Price and trims

Kia publishes drive-away estimates for the EV5, not list prices before on-road costs, so that's what we show. The current estimates are valid until 31 October 2026.

EV5 variantDriveBatteryWLTP rangeDrive-away estimate
Air Standard RangeFWD64.2 kWh400 km$49,990

On top of the drive-away price you choose either $2,000 cashback or 1.88% p.a. comparison-rate finance. Applications must be in by 31 October 2026 and settled by 14 November 2026, and the two can't be combined. The Air Long Range is the range-per-dollar pick of the line-up: it has the same battery as the AWD models and the longest WLTP figure.

Battery and range

The Air Long Range has an 88.1 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, one 160 kW / 310 Nm front motor, and Kia quotes 0–100 km/h in about 8.9 seconds. WLTP range is 555 km at 180 Wh/km combined.

Highway range tests

Bjørn Nyland, 120 km/h: no matching EV5 test is published. Out of Spec Reviews, 70 mph: none. The EV5 isn't sold in the US, so a test is unlikely. We don't substitute results from other Kia models.

Charging

AC (onboard charger)11 kW three-phase; 10–100% about 8 h 10 min on an 11 kW charger
DC 10–80%About 38 min on a 350 kW charger; about 72 min on a 50 kW charger (Kia figures)
Peak DC powerNot published by Kia Australia
Charging voltageWorks on 400 V and 800 V DC chargers

Kia's 38-minute figure assumes a 350 kW charger. On a 50 kW unit it takes about 72 minutes, so on road trips it pays to plan stops at high-power sites.

Warranty and servicing

Kia's warranty is 7 years, unlimited km for private buyers. High-voltage EV components are covered for 7 years or 150,000 km. The EV5 sold now is a 2026 model year car, so its battery capacity warranty is 7 years or 150,000 km (to 70% of original capacity). Kia gives 8 years or 160,000 km only to model year 2027 and later vehicles. Kia offers capped-price servicing for up to 7 years or 105,000 km. Ask the dealer for the EV5's per-service prices.

Safety (ANCAP)

Five stars (2024 rating, applies to all variants): adult occupant 88%, child occupant 86%, vulnerable road users 74%, safety assist 82%. ANCAP lists AEB Backover as not available on the base variant. Check which grade you're buying if reversing AEB matters to you.

Rivals to compare

Who it suits, and who should look elsewhere

Good fit: families who want a large boot, real towing capacity (1,250 kg) and a long WLTP range without paying for AWD, plus Kia's 7-year warranty.

Look elsewhere if: fast DC charging matters most (38 minutes is slow next to 800 V rivals), or you want a highway-range test before you buy. There isn't one for the EV5 yet.
