All three trims use the same 84 kWh battery. The Premium N Line is the only AWD version and the most expensive regular Ioniq 5 (the high-performance Ioniq 5 N is a separate model). Hyundai also offers 3.90% p.a. comparison-rate finance on selected in-stock new and demo Ioniq 5s. It needs a 10% deposit and a term of up to 36 months, with applications by 31 December 2026 and settlement by 14 January 2027.

Battery and range

The battery is 84 kWh. The Premium N Line's twin motors make 239 kW (74 kW front, 165 kW rear), and WLTP range is 495 km at 181 Wh/km. Tare mass is 2,190 kg.

Highway range tests

Bjørn Nyland, 120 km/h: 316 km. He tested a European-market Ioniq 5 AWD with the 84 kWh battery at 3°C, in dry conditions, on winter tyres. That's the same battery and drivetrain layout, but the cold and the winter tyres both cut range. Expect more on a mild Australian day, though we can't say how much.

Out of Spec Reviews, 70 mph: we haven't found a result matched to this battery and drivetrain, so we don't quote one.

Warranty and servicing

The standard warranty is 5 years, unlimited km. Hyundai extends it to 7 years, unlimited km for passenger vehicles first registered from 1 June 2025 when every scheduled service is done at an authorised Hyundai dealer. The high-voltage battery has an 8-year or 160,000 km warranty. Hyundai also sells pre-paid service plans.

Safety (ANCAP)

Five stars, but from 2021: adult occupant 88%, child occupant 87%, vulnerable road users 63%, safety assist 89%. The rating applies to all Ioniq 5 variants except the Ioniq 5 N, and it expires in December 2027. Newer rivals were scored under tougher, more recent protocols.

Rivals to compare

Who it suits, and who should look elsewhere

Good fit: buyers who tow (1,600 kg is among the best here), want 18-minute 10–80% charging and AWD, and plan to service at Hyundai to get the 7-year warranty.

Look elsewhere if: price matters most. The RWD Ioniq 5 is $15,500 cheaper and goes 75 km further on WLTP. Also look elsewhere if you want a current-protocol ANCAP rating.
